I’m honoured that the expert jury of Hungary 365 photo contest has selected my photo titled ’Conquest of the Homeland’ or ‘The Hungarian Conquest’ for its photo exhibition titled ’Images of Hungary’!

The goal of Hungary 365 photo contest is to represent the natural and built heritage of Hungary, the holidays and everyday life of the people living here, through the lens of the competitors, with a unique perspective.

In 2022, 38000 entries were submitted to the jury, which clearly showed the enormous interest the photo contest had.

The photo contest is accompanied by the publication of a reference album containing the 365 best photos of the competition each and every year.

I’m honoured that I have been shortlisted to be part of that album three times so far. I was selected to be featured in it with one photo of my submitted entries in 2019 for the first time (in that year I entered the photo contest for the first time and more than 20000 entries were submitted altogether) and for the second time in 2021 (at that time almost 37000 entries were submitted). As for the latest 2022 contest, the reference album, which will be delivered soon, will contain two of my submitted entries among the best ones, more precisely two photos being part of two different series I submitted.

The exhibition, that’s open since 14 March 2023 as part of the official programs commemorating the Hungarian Revolution and War of Independence in 1848-49 and that can be visited on the Danube Promenade, between Vigadó and 15th March Square, day and night until 10 April 2023, highlights 200 entries from all the ones submitted in the first 4 years of Hungary 365 photo contest.

I couldn’t attend the opening of the exhibition and on the holiday of 15 March the weather conditions could not really let me go and view it as part of a family program.

However, 3 days later, everything was in their right place, so I could go and see, along with my wife and our son, my photo – which had also been featured in the reference album of the contest in 2019 – among the exhibited, best entries.

By the way, my photo titled ’Conquest of the Homeland’ or ‘The Hungarian Conquest’ has turned out to have real potential as a tourist attraction. These tourists expressed their wish to have a photo taken of them with the picture.

As for the 2021 reference album of Hungary 365 photo contest, it contains my photo titled ’Space Experience’ that was taken at the opening ceremony and holy mass with first communion (Heroes’ Square, Andrássy Avenue) of the 52nd International Eucharistic Congress (IEC2020) which had been originally scheduled to be held in Budapest in 2020, but was postponed to 5-12 September 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic.
